“It’s pretty close, I would say it’s pretty close. Songs phenomenal, everything. It’s an album that’s all over the place, it’s not just one thing. It’s not just that you’re gonna hear some Southern hip-hop or whatever. You’re gonna hear everything.” - Manny Fresh
Shot at The Hut Studios Nola in collaboration with Dubb Productions, Squares Crew, Team Piss Yo Pants, Beach Chair Music and The Entire NOLA Hip Hop Scene.
If you are a true fan of my work, Im sure you are aware of the fact that in 1997 my father committed suicide. I was 10 years old, the oldest of his 3 kids, and his only girl. I was a daddy's girl and during this 4 minute and some odd second song I rediscovered those emotions I hid that very day that I learned of my daddy's demise.
I didn't plan on releasing this record. It was actually recorded on the same day I was set to drop my last mixtape {Guess Who's Coming 2 Dinner which went on to become 2010's Mixtape of the Year and be the key to me winning Lyricist of the Year and Best Female Artist}. After playing the record I was persuaded to include it on the project. It went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed records on the tape... and because of that, I put my pride to the side and decided to direct a visual for it. Though it was hard to make, it was important. It was also theraputic.

Truth Universal's latest video -- "Paperchase" is here! This outstanding animated visual art project is the work of filmmaker Mark Lester (http://marklesterfilm.tumblr.com). The song, produced by DJ Def D, appears on Truth's Resistance Vol. 2: Polygraph (http://truthuniversal.com/polygraph). "Paperchase" deals with the struggle to attain and maintain wealth in a very chaotic, volatile, exploitative, and cutthroat capitalist economy.
Truth will be @ SXSW to inform the music world of his forthcoming album -- Invent the Future. You can catch Truth and DJ Def D performing live on Saturday March 17th, @ Malaia -- 300 E. 6th St., Austin, TX @ 12:50AM. Truth Universal's full SXSW schedule is here: http://truthuniversal.com/sxsw.
